The Lonely Conductor

For the first time in 56 years the Railway Village will close its doors for the 2020 summer season. Keeping in mind the safety of our staff and patrons, it was clear that this was the best choice we could make for the Village at this time.

We are saddened by this decision, as the summer will not be the same without the sound of our whistle or the smiles and laughter of those that pass through our doors.

But we realize that sometimes the challenges that we face are the very things that make us stronger and allow us to grow.

Although our doors will be closed, we will be here! Working safely on enhancement projects and creating new experiences for our patrons to discover upon re-opening! (Follow us on Faceboook and Instagram for sneak previews!)

And as always, we invite you to be a part of our efforts.  Plan a day with the family on the Village Green this summer, enjoying the wide open space while working on a project that warms your heart.
It will be good for the soul AND The Village!
This is your Village, and we need you now more than ever!

Until then, we look forward to seeing you in 2021, and we can’t wait to debut the results of 2020; which will go down in the history books as ‘the year we spent rebuilding for a stronger future’

Welcome to The Village

The Boothbay Railway Village is a museum, a non-profit educational organization. Nowhere else in New England can you ride the rails behind an authentic steam locomotive surrounded by historic Maine buildings preserved in a recreated village of aged and vintage buildings assembled from across Maine, and view a collection of 60 antique autos or experience model trains as never before. Throughout the season a wide variety of special events are hosted on the Museum’s Village Green from vintage ball games to car shows and family festivals.
