Books in Boothbay

September 11 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

BOOKS IN BOOTHBAY | 9a-4p | Event Free, General Admission Ticket Required to enter Museum

Books in Boothbay, a free family-friendly literary event bringing Maine authors and book lovers together, announces it will host the 17th annual Books in Boothbay on Sept. 11, 2021 at the Boothbay Railway Village Museum.

In a collaborative effort, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shops, and the Boothbay Railway Village Museum will host this year’s event. To help ensure sufficient social distancing, there will be two sessions, one from 9 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session from 1 to 4 p.m. Each session will showcase 20 Maine authors and their latest works.

To date, 30 authors have signed up for this annual event including newcomer, Caitlin Wahrer from Canaan, who just released her debut suspense & thriller novel: “The Damage.” Caitlin draws from her legal background where she worked on cases that inspired her writing. She has received accolades from Stephen King who said, “Smart … The Damage pulled me in from the first page with a hold your breath plot … terrific.”

Returning to Books in Boothbay is favorite author Barbara Ross, a Portland resident and author of the popular series: “Maine Clambake Mysteries and Jane Darrowfield Mysteries.” The fictional town in her books is Boothbay Harbor. She has been nominated for multiple Agatha Awards for Best Contemporary Novel and has won the Maine Literary Award for Crime Fiction. Her newest book is “Shucked Apart.”

The entire roster of authors can be found at https://booksinboothbay.blogspot.com/ and is being added to weekly.

The day promises to be full of opportunities to meet the authors and have them sign books. Admission to the book fair is always free. Those who would like to enjoy the Boothbay Railway Village Museum can purchase tickets. A pop-up vintage market and food trucks are in the works and vendors will be announced at a later date.

Participating authors’ books will be available for sale on site with Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shops facilitating the transactions. A portion of the proceeds go to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (BHML), whose mission is to create a welcoming space in which to explore ideas, foster community, and nurture individual growth through open access to the tools to learn, dream, connect, and do. The funds from this event will go toward adult and children’s free public programming including children’s early literacy kits, authors’ talks, and movie nights at BHML.

Book lovers are encouraged to mark their calendars now for Sept. 11. Go to www.booksinboothbay.blogspot.com/ for all the details of the day as they will be updated weekly or follow @booksinboothbay on Facebooks for updates.
