For many a family isn’t complete without a furry, four-legged addition. Rescue Day at the Railway is a day full with activities designed specifically for families including the opportunity to perhaps meet your newest companion. There will be games and activities just for kids including the popular barrel train ride, fly ball and dog training demos, vendors of locally made pet products, adoptable dogs & puppies from many area rescue groups, and much more.
Anyone who brings a donation of dog food or an item from the participating shelters/rescues wish list receives free admission including a train ride. The donations will be divided by the participating shelters at the end of the day.

Flyball MAINEiacs
11 am & 2 pm
Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51 foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can’t cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all 4 jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without error wins the heat.
Positively Best Friends
10 am & 12 noon
Positively Best Friends will provide an Agility “Try It” for attendees’ dogs. Elements will include some simple obstacles and a short agility course for folks to try with their pups.
