Did you know that Maine was the birthplace of prohibition? And even though nationwide prohibition laws were only in effect for 13 years, it lasted 82 years in Maine? If you ask us, that is a long time to perfect the illegal manufacture and sale of alcohol…
Join the Railway Village Museum for a special after-hours event to learn about Mainers’ resistance to long standing liquor laws. The first event in this series features local historian and attorney, Chip Griffin, who will present on the early years of prohibition in the Boothbay region including tales of well-known community landmarks!
Your ticket includes local Bites & Flights: Homemade Submarines and an educational whiskey tasting* from local Boothbay Harbor speakeasy (Marcel’s Submarine Shop and Whiskey Bar). Call the sitter, this event is not for kids!
