On a cold January morning, Executive Director, Paul Barcellos received an email from a person selling a vintage carriage from the early 1900’s. The gentleman represented his mother-in-law who owned the carriage and asked Paul to contact her. And the rest is a great story of Kindness and devotion. Mrs. Patricia Carter of Monmouth Maine {or Patti as she likes to be called}, offered the beautifully restored carriage as a donation to the museum, which represents life at the turn of the century in rural Maine. The excitement built as the day arrived for Mr. Barcellos to take paperwork and himself to inspect the Donation, and what a sight he saw, a perfectly restored beautiful example of craftmanship and beauty. Patty Explained That her late husband Brett had commissioned custom carriage builders to restore all facets, seat, paint woodwork and a new Surry top. And the result was perfection. The Museum plans to house Its New Artifact in the restored barn next to the Harrington house. The Staff, and members of the Museum Wish to Thank Patti Carter for her generous donation where it will be seen and enjoyed for years to come.
