Boothbay Railway Village is an outdoor history museum and re-created Maine town of 1850 – 1950. The Village covers more than 15 acres and has more than two dozen historic and reconstructed buildings. Unpaved roads lead to structures typical of rural Maine. Many of our historic buildings have wheelchair-accessible entrances. The Village’s unpaved roads are generally firm and stable. Most roads are level, with steeper grade near the goat pen and blacksmith shop. Our railroad operates with a combination of historic and replica rolling stock that can sometimes prove challenging for guests. Our conductors and engineers are always available to help with the two or three steps required to board. An open coach with ramped access for wheelchairs or scooters is available with 24-hour advance notice.
